Dr. Richard Gibbs danced with the Hamburg Ballet, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and First Chamber Dance Company. He has taught ballet on the faculties of Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Summer Dance Labs, Marin Ballet and Harvard University. Returning to school in his mid-thirties, he received his undergraduate degree from Harvard and an MD form Yale University. Dr. Gibbs has supervised the Medical Program for the San Francisco Ballet since 1991, and he is the founding Chair of the Dance/USA Taskforce on Dancer Health. In addition to his work in dance, Dr. Gibbs and his wife (former U.S. Ski Team member Dr. Tricia Gibbs) founded the San Francisco Free Clinic where they provide free medical care to people with no health insurance. The Gibbs’s have five children live in Mill Valley.
